A radio program called On Focus hosted by Nadia Mitsopoulos, recently presented a panel discussion about whether smart devices used to access learning apps impact negatively or positively on primary school students education in the classroom.

Guest specialists contributing to the discussion included: Garry Falloon, Professor of Digital Learning, Macquarie University; Dr Kirsty Goodwin, Education Consultant in Digital Technology; and Lisa Clark, an Occupational Therapist who works with kindergarten and school children.

The panel provided different perspectives on how mobile devices affect learning, for example, everyone learns new information differently; the variety of learning offered to children; and how the limits or avenues new technology is creating can affect a child's capacity to learn and communicate their knowledge. 

The specialists also discussed how the use of mobile devices might not be as effective a tool to learn by, as opposed to traditional methods in class. Enjoy the discussion.
